Shopify POS (Point of Sale) is an app you can install onto an iPad and Shopify charge a monthly fee for the use of the app. You can trial it for free for 14 days. It is used for over the counter type sales. These can be anonymous or customer based.
When you install the app, you will be required to log in to your Shopify store. The app will then download your configuration settings. After this you should be ready to go. You might just want to jump in and check the default settings. Ensure you set the Fulfillment default. This can be overridden for each order, but it will be used as your default each time you create an order. Setting this to ON, means that Tradevine will attempt to auto-complete as much of the order as we can. If the payment method is credit card and all the stock can be supplied then Tradevine will auto-complete the order.
Generally when you create a POS order the customer is unknown unless you add or create a customer for the order. POS orders created in Tradevine without a customer name will be assigned to a default customer called Shopify POS. Orders assigned to Shopify POS are excluded from being combined candidates.
You should be able to optionally add notes to the orders, as well as a shipping address if you need to. Discounts can be added to either the entire order or each product.

Shopify effectively assign a till number to the order number. The till number precedes the final component of the order number and POS orders start anew from 1000. The till number is incremented any time the app is installed or re-installed.
Any POS orders where the payment method is a credit or debit card will show up in Tradevine with a payment method of Other.
Currently Tradevine does not cater for custom sales or refunds processed through your POS device. Shopify currently do not cater for shipping rates or discount codes.
Custom sales
When a custom sale is created via Shopify POS, a sales order will be created with a non-stocked product known as Shopify custom POS sale product placeholder. The shipment and the sales order will be automatically completed.
Unknown products
When we receive in a Shopify POS order for a product that is unknown to Tradevine, a pending sales order will be created with a placeholder product known as Shopify unknown product placeholder. The sales order will then require manual approval which gives you the opportunity to change, create or import a new product. You can change the placeholder product at any time while the sales order’s status is set to pending. If there are multiple unknown products on a sales order, then each additional unknown product will be appended with a sequence number. Eg. Shopify unknown product placeholder1.
A new stocked product called Shopify unknown product placeholder will also be created.
